About IDO design

IDO is a design studio built on the belief that collaboration across diverse disciplines and experiences can redefine the scope and impact of spatial design. The firm thrives on generating multiple synergies—bringing together varied perspectives to challenge conventional thinking and uncover innovation in the most unexpected places.

At the core of IDO’s philosophy is a keen ability to identify opportunity within the ordinary. The studio views flaws and constraints not as limitations, but as catalysts for creativity. This outlook drives a design process that seeks to depart from the mundane, embracing bold ideas that balance functionality, aesthetics, and emotional resonance.

For IDO, every space is an invitation to explore new dimensions in design—spaces that are visually engaging, thoughtfully detailed, and purposefully crafted. The studio’s work reflects a continuous pursuit of functional innovation grounded in human experience, contextual relevance, and a refined sense of visual expression.

Completion of Project: September 2023

Client Name: Shashwat Textiles

This bespoke apartment, crafted for a reputed Gujarati businessman in Ahmedabad’s textile industry, embodies his desire for a “bungalow-like” lifestyle within a high-rise. The client, known for his discerning eye and refined taste, envisioned a space that would seamlessly accommodate extended family gatherings while reflecting his industrial legacy. With meticulous attention to materiality, the design balances grandeur with warmth. Natural textures and hand-finished surfaces echo the client’s textile background, weaving together tradition, luxury, and functionality. The spatial layout amplifies openness—offering zones for socialising, contemplation, and comfort, much like a bungalow spread across a single plane. Anchored in his professional world, the design draws from fabric’s flow to build concave forms, curving profiles, and layered finishes that soften the apartment’s geometry.

Design Highlights:

  • Bungalow-style openness across a single-level apartment
  • Textile-inspired textures, forms, and finishes
  • Concave wall panels and reverse fluted arches in the home temple
  • Metal and gold accents for a luxurious palette
  • Sculptural railing and curved furniture mimicking the flow of fabric
  • Emphasis on verticality for spatial grandeur

Summary:
The apartment is a masterclass in material sensitivity and design storytelling, where stone panels curve like cloth and light plays off metallic finishes. It channels the elegance of fabric into architectural forms—archways, fluted contours, and curved furniture—bridging industrial inspiration with residential luxury. The result is an elevated yet rooted living space, where every detail reflects the legacy and lifestyle of the client. This Ahmedabad residence stands as a tribute to the poetic possibilities of material and form.
