Dipen Gada & Associates (DGA), founded in 1993 in Vadodara by civil engineer and principal designer Dipen Gada, is renowned for innovative, minimal, and timeless design. With a multidisciplinary team, the firm delivers architecture, interiors, landscape, and product design rooted in collaboration, craftsmanship, and a balance of functionality and aesthetics.
Set within an expansive plot in Vanana, Porbandar, White House is conceived as a calm and highly functional home for a client whose work and life are deeply tied to the sea through marine rescue and engineering. Designed during the pandemic, after several rounds of detailed discussions, the architectural response evolved into a single-level, C-shaped residence that prioritizes openness, accessibility, and the quiet rhythm of everyday living.
A long driveway edged with lush landscape leads to the home’s first dramatic gesture — a bold white wall with dented plaster that conceals the entire house behind it. Sunlight shifts across its textured surface, creating an ever-changing play of shadows. A wooden and glass box subtly punctures this massive form, framing a sculpture by Ashish Das and instantly establishing a relationship between art, architecture, and curiosity. The entrance unfolds through a generous wooden porch and a tall door, leading into a foyer anchored by sacred art that sets a tone of serenity.
To the right, a soaring living room reveals itself — minimal in furniture yet monumental in emotion, highlighted by a striking Dashavtaar artwork that infuses narrative and depth. The planning flows seamlessly inward toward the dining area, family living space, kitchen, and connected decks. Nature becomes an integral layer here, visually stitched into the interiors through continuous openings.
The swimming pool emerges as the central feature, embraced by the tall living room on one side and the master suite on the other. Its shimmering reflections animate the fluted white walls, while a circular sunken seating area creates a perfect pause point for gathering and reflection.
Three bedrooms, including the master suite, open into private decks and Zen-like gardens. Bathrooms celebrate light and openness through skylights, soft palettes, and spa-influenced detailing. Across the home, whites, soft blues, and warm woods shape a restrained yet elegant interior expression, enriched by the presence of sunlight and greenery.
White House is a measured study in simplicity — a place where architecture, landscape, craftsmanship, and art converge to create a sanctuary of serenity, permanence, and meaningful stillness. A home crafted for quiet inspiration.
