Founded by Pooja Bihani in 2006, Kolkata-based Spaces and Design is an award-winning studio blending harmony, aesthetics, and functionality through ‘Interior Architecture.’ Integrating Pranic Feng Shui and diverse styles, the studio crafts bespoke, energy-balanced spaces celebrated for innovation, simplicity, and seamless spatial flow across acclaimed residential and commercial projects.
#reserved is a thoughtfully designed duplex that celebrates fluidity, balance, and connection. Conceived for a multi-generational family with three young children, the home embodies seamless transitions — between generations, spaces, and experiences. Every corner reflects a sense of rhythm, movement, and calm, echoing the evolving energy of the family it shelters.
At the heart of the residence lies the sculptural staircase — a floating masterpiece that defines the home’s essence. With its sand-textured soffit, curved edges, and continuous railing, it serves as both a structural anchor and an art form. Its graceful movement is accentuated by Arjun Rathi’s bespoke swirling chandelier, which becomes a luminous extension of the staircase, filling the double-height living area with architectural drama. The interplay of materials—dyed Sukupira wood, Chianti White Marble, and soft metallics—creates a tactile, cohesive narrative throughout.
Spaces flow organically, maintaining openness while allowing intimacy. The living and dining areas connect seamlessly, unified by a grid of veneer and marble mouldings that add visual rhythm. Corridors, enlivened by art, greenery, and curated lighting, become experiential passages rather than transitional zones. The kitchen, in contrast, adopts a minimalist monochrome palette, integrating functionality and aesthetics through sleek cabinetry, concealed appliances, and refined detailing.
The den introduces an element of quiet luxury, with its silk shamiana ceiling lending warmth and intimacy. The puja room, conceived as a serene retreat, features textured panels, handcrafted totem columns, and soft lighting, evoking meditative stillness. Each private space is carefully tailored—master suites exude calm through warm woods and Panda White marble-clad bathrooms, while children’s rooms blend playfulness with individuality. The son’s rooms take inspiration from dominos and mathematical patterns, while the daughter’s space radiates softness in peaches and pinks illuminated by white Flos tracks.
Materiality remains central to the design’s identity. Rich wood tones, leather-finished marble, and handcrafted lighting establish harmony between luxury and warmth. Ultimately, #Reserved is more than a residence—it is a sculptural narrative of connection, craftsmanship, and evolution. Every element, from its staircase to its subtle textures, celebrates continuity, elegance, and a life designed with intention and grace.
