The Mankind Headquarters reimagines the contemporary corporate workplace as a living dialogue between architecture, landscape, and community. Located on a former industrial site in Delhi and framed by dense green corridors, the building lifts itself gently above the ground to create a shaded, open plinth. This elevated base dissolves the conventional boundary between office and park, functioning as a porous threshold that invites landscape, movement, and public life into the heart of the campus.

The architectural massing evolves through a series of deliberate gestures—carving, corbelling, and subtle shifts—shaped by orientation, circulation, and programmatic needs. These moves generate a rich sequence of shaded edges, recessed terraces, and moments of filtered light, ensuring that interior workspaces remain visually and climatically connected to the outdoors. The building avoids a monolithic presence, instead unfolding as a composition of volumes that respond sensitively to their context.

At the centre of the plan lies a generous courtyard that anchors the workplace. This open-to-sky space binds work environments across multiple levels through interconnected terraces, gardens, and framed sky views. More than a visual focus, the courtyard acts as an internal ecosystem, enhancing cross-ventilation, introducing diffused daylight, and offering employees moments of pause and reflection within the workday.

Sustainability is embedded across every layer of the design. Deep overhangs and passive shading strategies significantly reduce heat gain, while terrace gardens and planted courts improve the microclimate and encourage informal outdoor working. Locally sourced materials are used extensively to minimise environmental impact and support regional craftsmanship. Water-sensitive landscape strategies, including rain gardens, bioswales, and permeable surfaces, strengthen the site’s ecological performance and resilience.

Awarded LEED Gold Certification, the Mankind Headquarters stands as a benchmark for environmentally responsive corporate architecture. It shifts the idea of an office from a closed, controlled environment to one that promotes openness, collaboration, and well-being. More than a workplace, the building becomes a landscape for interaction and reflection—where transparency is spatial as well as cultural, and where nature is not treated as an amenity, but embraced as an essential part of everyday experience.
