ARA Design
ARA Designs is a multidisciplinary architecture and interior design practice founded in 2011 by Amey Dahanukar. Based on the belief that design should breathe life into spaces, the firm specializes in boutique villas, hospitality, commercial, and mixed-use developments. With a focus on user-centric design and a seamless blend of larger architectural ideas with intricate details, ARA Designs creates cohesive spaces that transition effortlessly between the exterior and interior realms.
The studio’s design language draws heavily from the site’s location and cultural context, with a particular emphasis on residential spaces where the material palette and architectural elements are carefully chosen to reflect the spirit of the surroundings. ARA Designs strives to craft environments that foster a sense of community, recognizing the deep interrelationship between architecture, urban scape, and interior design.
Founded by Amey Dahanukar, ARA Designs is shaped by his early exposure to architecture through his father, Ar. Avinash Dahanukar. Amey pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Rachana Sansad’s Academy of Architecture, Mumbai, followed by a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Newcastle University, United Kingdom. His keen understanding of modern and contemporary art, combined with a strong sensitivity to site and context, underpins the firm’s distinctive design approach.
Today, ARA Designs has expanded its footprint globally, particularly in the retail and hospitality sectors, delivering projects that celebrate craftsmanship, contextual relevance, and timeless design principles.
Perched high above Hyderabad’s bustling IT district, Cara Cara is a rooftop bar that embodies fluidity, rhythm, and tranquility. Designed by principal architect Amey Dahanukar, the space is inspired by the organic movement of wind and music, inviting visitors to sway with its vibrant energy. The entrance offers a glimpse of the sweeping curved bar, while the ceiling’s rippling design mirrors the fluid motion of water. Cara Cara’s ambiance blends natural materials like sandstone and birch ply with modern design to create a tropical yet urban oasis. Set amid a leafy cul-de-sac, the rooftop offers panoramic views of the city’s rocks and greenery, away from traffic chaos. Designed for Hyderabad’s cosmopolitan crowd, it transforms a legacy nightlife spot into an iconic, contemporary retreat. Seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces, Cara Cara is not just a bar, but an experience that merges architecture, nature, and social connection into one harmonious whole.
