Studio Ardete, a Mohali-based architectural practice founded by architects Badrinath and Prerna Kaleru, embodies a raw yet refined aesthetic that merges minimalism with warmth. The studio’s design philosophy is evident from the reception itself—where materials are left elemental and unfinished to celebrate their natural character. Stone panels are sourced directly from quarries, and subtle concrete textures enrich the space. A fluid ceiling design and adaptable partitions allow dynamic spatial configurations, while the striking blue sculptural staircase stands as the focal point, symbolizing movement and inviting exploration.

The ground floor houses transformable spaces, including a modular conference room with fabric panel walls that expand or contract as needed—reflecting the studio’s commitment to flexibility and responsiveness. The upper floor, a 3000 sq. ft. expansion space, features design studios, a material library, and a foosball table that adds a touch of playfulness. Thoughtful lighting and stretched fabrics create optical illusions that amplify the spatial drama. At its heart lies a double-height town hall area—an adaptable space for meetings, collaborations, and events—fostering a strong sense of community and transparency among the team.

The main studio stretches across the plot’s width, filled with daylight from both ends through strategically layered glass that draws light deep within. A paper mesh feature wall adds texture and artistry, serving as a backdrop for meetings and virtual interactions. The space’s charm is amplified by the presence of two office dogs—fondly called the “musketeers”—who contribute to the studio’s lively, inclusive atmosphere.

A carefully designed conference room combines rugged functionality with comfort, equipped with acoustic isolation and airtight doors for focus and clarity. The client lounge, anchored around a piano and cozy furniture, exudes warmth and familiarity, encouraging open, empathetic conversations. Attached to it is a discreet studio apartment for visiting collaborators.

A vibrant cafeteria doubles as a training space, connecting to “The Arena”—a recreational zone for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball that strengthens team bonds. Sustainability forms the studio’s core, with solar panels powering over half its energy needs. The facade, inspired by a tree preserved during construction, evolved through 40 design iterations into petal-like balconies that filter light and ensure privacy—becoming a poetic emblem of Studio Ardete’s identity.
