With a 14-year journey rooted in innovation, the studio blends architecture, culture, and technology across master planning, residential, commercial, and institutional projects—each defined by functionality and sensitivity to place.
स्व bhaav — a residence for an affluent family in Surat — is a poetic dialogue between understated luxury, tradition, and modern refinement. Designed by NEOGENESIS+STUDI0261, the 6,200 sq. ft. home reflects the studio’s philosophy of creating spaces that are timeless, contextually rooted, and emotionally resonant. “The client desired an understated yet sophisticated home that would become a personal signature,” shares Ar. Chinmay Laiwala. The result is a serene retreat where materiality, light, and craftsmanship harmoniously converge to create an environment of quiet elegance.
The entrance foyer sets the tone for the narrative with its sculptural composition of leathered sandstone, black wood-cut artwork, and brown mirrors. This layered interplay of textures and tones forms a prelude to the home’s design language—minimal yet expressive. The living areas exude warmth and comfort through plush upholstery, dark-wood accents, and refined detailing. Every element is curated to convey a sense of permanence and intimacy, while the spatial layout ensures openness and flow.
The dining area becomes the heart of the home, anchored by a custom-designed teak-and-marble table that lends a grounded, earthy elegance. Natural light filters gently through the interiors, enhancing the soft material palette and connecting the inhabitants to the rhythm of the day. Throughout the home, the design balances functionality with artistry—each space narrates its own story while contributing to a coherent whole.
The bedrooms embody distinct personalities while maintaining aesthetic continuity. The parents’ room, finished in hand-applied Lippan work, exudes serenity and sacred simplicity. The children’s rooms, on the other hand, merge creativity and functionality, offering vibrant yet composed spaces that evolve with their needs. Bespoke furniture pieces, hand-woven textiles, and thoughtfully curated art infuse individuality and craftsmanship into the interiors.
The deck balcony blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, extending the living experience into nature. “The home embodies minimalism, artistry, and a deep connection to tradition,” adds Ar. Tarika Asarawala, encapsulating the spirit of स्व bhaav—a home that transcends trends to celebrate authenticity. Crafted with restraint and emotion, it stands as an ode to timeless design, where every detail resonates with the family’s essence and the architects’ pursuit of soulful living.
