Cadence Architects
Cadence Architects is a design-driven, collaborative studio founded in 2005 by principal architects Smaran Mallesh, Narendra Pirgan, and Vikram Rajashekhar. Based in Bengaluru, the studio is known for its thoughtful, context-responsive architecture that aims to create spaces that go beyond the conventional.
Their design philosophy centres on crafting sensorial experiences and spaces that celebrate life, while pushing boundaries of form, material, and spatial relationships. Rather than adhering to a predetermined style, each project emerges from the specific conditions of program, climate, culture, and site—allowing the design to evolve organically and meaningfully.
The studio comprises a team of over 30 architects and interior designers, and undertakes a wide range of projects—from custom homes and hospitality to large-scale institutional and commercial developments. At its core, Cadence focuses on creating architecture that is both affective and timeless, with every design being an invitation to engage, inhabit, and experience.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Krishnagiri’s undulating hills, K Home reimagines contemporary living within a dense residential neighbourhood. This striking residence makes a bold architectural statement with its cube-like facade, featuring sculpted voids that are both functional and poetic. These strategically carved openings offer framed views of the surrounding cityscape and distant hills, creating a fluid dialogue between the built form and its natural context. The shifting perspectives as one moves around the house lend a kinetic quality to the facade—pinched, pulled, and purposefully shaped to respond to light, wind, and vistas. At the heart of the home lies a double-height living space that breathes openness into the compact site. This soaring volume connects different levels visually and spatially, anchored by a beautifully crafted staircase that serves as both a design feature and a central spine. K Home is a study in how geometric restraint can evoke emotional resonance.
