Founded in 2014 by Akash and Poonam Mehta, Poonam Akash is a Pune-based luxury interior design studio known for its blend of artistry, sophistication, and functionality. Specializing in bespoke residential and commercial projects, the duo crafts emotionally resonant, personalized spaces that reflect individuality through timeless elegance and meticulous detailing.
Nestled within the verdant enclave of Koregaon Park, Pune, Aria is a 10,000-square-foot residence that beautifully balances modern minimalism with timeless heritage. Designed for a family of three from Kolhapur, the home encapsulates a refined interplay of luxury, functionality, and tradition—crafted as a sanctuary where every detail tells a story.
The journey begins in a foyer that exudes understated opulence, wrapped in grey forest-themed wallpaper and anchored by white wingback chairs and a golden statement table. To one side, a serene temple crafted in white and ivory features marble jaalis from Jodhpur and delicate golden floral flooring, embodying a contemporary interpretation of sacred architecture.
The double-height living room unfolds as the home’s centerpiece—an ode to marble and grandeur. Golden-upholstered sofas and ivory-accented furniture rest upon a vintage carpet beneath a striking metal chandelier, while intricate Indian motifs add cultural depth. The adjoining dining area continues this symphony of elegance with a marble table inlaid with gold, arched-back chairs, and a feather-like chandelier. A mirrored chest and forest-themed wallpaper bring art and utility into harmony.
The adjacent island kitchen blends functionality with finesse through a palette of grey, white, and light wood, offering a clean and contemporary aesthetic. Moving through the corridor, camouflaged panelling leads to four distinct bedrooms, each designed with personality yet united by cohesion.
The master bedroom exudes warmth with nature-inspired wallpaper, a lounge corner, and a walk-in wardrobe. The second bedroom embraces earthy tones and rattan finishes, while the daughter’s room radiates youthful sophistication with rattan detailing and nature-inspired inlays. A fourth bedroom pairs beige hues with a dramatic brown stone accent and olive-toned bath interiors for contrast.
The den, with its leather couches, bespoke bar, and golden floral details, evokes chic relaxation, while the terrace—adorned with a marble table and cascading fountain—serves as a tranquil outdoor retreat.
At its essence, Aria is a dialogue between heritage and modernity. With a palette of beige, ivory, and gold, it seamlessly merges opulence with restraint, creating a timeless home that reflects not just refined design but the family’s soulful connection to their roots.
